Anne Bertram began her career as a professional actress and physical theater artist. She earned undergraduate degrees in Theatre Studies and Dance from Emerson College and an MFA in Acting from the University of California, Davis. She worked professionally as an actress in Los Angeles and taught Acting, Theatre, and Somatics in higher education.
Anne later studied at the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies (LIMS) in New York City, becoming a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA) with specialized training in movement analysis, actor training, and Bartenieff Fundamentals. Since 2008, she has worked with individual clients in private practice at Structural Elements®.
Today, Anne serves as Chief Communications Officer of Structural Elements® and is a practitioner in the Hagerstown clinic. Her work integrates somatic movement education, movement analysis, Pilates, and functional movement training to help clients improve movement efficiency, develop healthier movement patterns, and build sustainable body mechanics.
Anne is a Certified Pilates Instructor through Balanced Body®, a Registered Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist (RSMT/E) through the International Somatic Movement Education and Therapy Association (ISMETA), and a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA) through the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies.
Last but not lease, Anne is married to (se)® Founder and CEO Douglas Bertram, and mother to their daughters Gwen and Andi Pearl.
